Community Development
Supporting local livelihoods through employment, small-business partnerships, and investment in the regions we call home across Eastern Indonesia.
Our Impact
Basra Corporation is an Indonesian business group headquartered in Surabaya, East Java. The group believes progressive growth and social responsibility go hand in hand — across Eastern Indonesia, its 10+ business units invest in the communities they operate in, because lasting success is measured by the good we leave behind, not only by what we build.
From local employment and education to environmental stewardship and community health, our impact programs turn our commitment to "sustainability for society" into tangible, on-the-ground action.
Where We Focus
Supporting local livelihoods through employment, small-business partnerships, and investment in the regions we call home across Eastern Indonesia.
Integrating responsible, sustainable practices across our operations — reducing our footprint and protecting the ecosystems of the archipelago.
Opening doors for the next generation through scholarships, vocational training, and skills programs that build brighter futures for young people.
Promoting healthier communities through wellness initiatives, access to fitness, and support for local health and welfare across the region.
01Community Development
From housing and disaster response to seasonal support for families travelling home, our units work where they trade.
Housing
Basra supports housing improvement for families living in substandard dwellings in the communities around its operations, working alongside local partners.
02Environmental Stewardship
Tree planting, clean-up drives and greener day-to-day operations across our sites in East Java.
03Education & Youth
Vocational training that leads to real employment, and long-running support for children in our region.
Vocational training
Yamaha Engineering School (YES) offers free technical training in automotive and natural science. Through PT Surya Timur Sakti Jatim, Basra hosts the Surabaya intake — a programme supported nationally by Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing and running in fourteen other cities across Indonesia.
The course runs four and a half months: one month of theory, one and a half of practice, and two months of apprenticeship at a Yamaha Service Shop. Tuition, uniforms, textbooks and a graduating certificate are provided at no cost.
Since 2014
In 2014, PT Surya Timur Sakti Jatim hosted a Ramadan fasting event with more than 10,000 orphans across its sales locations in Surabaya, Malang and Jember.
During the Eid homecoming season the company also provides a fleet of buses, carrying travellers to cities throughout East Java free of charge.
04Health & Wellbeing
Practical contributions to public health services, alongside the wellness businesses within the group.
Public health
Basra provided an ambulance for public use in Surabaya, presented to the city with municipal officials in attendance.
